Most guests dine in the Britannia Restaurant located at the stern of the ship. It encompasses parts of two decks with a balcony
overlooking the central area. This area is highlighted by a large bronze and glass globe derived from the symbol on the Cunard house flag - - a lion holding a globe (above). Directly underneath the globe is the captain's table. (The captain hosts a table in the dining room on formal nights). Looking upwards, there is a spectacular glass and bronze lighted ceiling. There are windows
on the starboard side, the back and a portion of the port side side of the room giving the tables light during the open-seating
breakfasts and lunches.

Guests can request either the early or the late seating when they book their cabin. It is sometimes possible to change once you are aboard but it can be difficult. The early seating is popular both with older travelers as well as with families with children and so it is often completely full. As a result, it is usually harder to go from the late seating to the early seating. A disadvantage of the early seating on port intensive itineraries is that you may find yourself having to hurry to dinner after a day ashore.

Cunard, as befits a line so dedicated to preserving ocean liner traditions, follows the traditional approach to dining,
i.e., having assigned tables and seatings. In the Britannia Restaurant, each guest is assigned to a specific table at either the early or the late seating. An advantage of this system is that it allows the guests to develop a relationship with the serving staff over the course of the voyage as well as to develop the comradely with other guests that often comes from dining together several times over the course of an ocean voyage. |
The Britannia Club was added to the ship during the 2017. Unlike Queen Mary 2, this is a separate room from the Britannia Restaurant. It is for guests staying in Britannia Club class staterooms and is smaller and more intimate than the Britannia Restaurant.
This restaurant is one seating for dinner and guests can come for dinner any time between 6:30 and p.m. The menu offers the same options that are being offered that night in the Britannia Restaurant. However, there is also an ala carte menu with additional options. Thus, you have additional choices beyond those being offered to guests in the Britannia Restaurant. |
