PROFILE
Enchanted Princess cruise ship

SUMMARY

Enchanted Princess is the fifth Royal-class cruise ship built for Princess Cruises. Her sisters are: Royal Princess ,  Regal Princess, Majestic Princess, Sky Princess, and Discovery Princess. P&O Cruises' Britannia is also a sister.

The Royal-class ships are large ships capable of accommodating upwards of 4,000 guests. However, there is lots of space and good passenger flow. Enchanted Princess was built with a mid-ship passenger staircase, which alleviates a problem that plagued the passenger flow on the original Royal-class design.

Princess has used the space on these ships to offer passengers a wide variety of dining, entertainment and relaxation options. (See separate article). On Enchanted, these are presented in a spectacular but tasteful décor.

Enchanted's primary propulsion plant is two propellers. Inasmuch as most modern cruise ships incorporate pod propulsion, Enchanted can be seen as the culmination of the traditional passenger ship design. She is maneuverable, rides well in heavy weather and can reach a respectable speed similar to most other modern cruise ships.

The ship was originally scheduled to go into service in June 2020. However, the closure of the Fincantierri shipyard for several months due to the Covid pandemic, delayed completion of Enchanted Princess until the end of September 2020. Even when she came into Princess' hands, the ship was unable to enter service because of the industry-wide shut-down of the cruise industry. Consequently, Enchanted did not begin service until November 2021.
