COMMENTARYEnchanted Princess is very similar in design to earlier Royal-class ships such as Royal Princess and Regal Princess. However, she is not identical. The overall décor is lighter, the colors are different and there is more art work. Some features have been adjusted from the original configuration. For example, the Skywalk is enclosed on both the port and starboard sides and its bar has been moved to the centerline.
The centerpiece of the public areas on Enchanted Princess is the Piazza. This large open space is brightly lit, polished and spectacular. It ascends upward through several decks. Surrounding it are bars, restaurants, and shops. Casual seating makes it a good place to relax and people watch. There is entertainment there in the evenings and activities during the day. The ship has three outdoor pool areas including one that has two pools. There is an infinity pool at the stern. The pools are surrounded by hot tubs and loungers. A large video screen stands over the main pool area and there are various bars and eating casual venues surrounding the area. At the front of the ship is the extra-tariff luxury relaxation area The Sanctuary. Enchanted Princess has an extensive spa with its own indoor pool. Nearby is the salon. Unlike most cruise ships, the fitness area is not located near the spa. Rather, it is aft, high on the ship, near the jogging trail and the sports court. There is a shopping area off the Piazza with shops offering clothing, jewelry, and souvenirs. It also has an art gallery and a photo gallery. Although the ship has good wi-fi, there is also a computer center for accessing the internet. There is also a center to answer questions and help guests to use their smart phones in connection with Princess' high tech Medallion services. One of the ways the Medallion service can be used is to order a drink, which will be brought to you wherever you are on the ship. However, there are also traditional bars and lounges throughout the public areas. Some, such as the Salty Dog Gastropub also serve extra-tariff food. The principal entertainment venue is the Princess Theater, a traditional cruise ship theater where the production shows are performed and visiting entertainers appear. But there are also other entertainment venues such as Princess Live, home to activities such as trivia contests and cruise staff game shows, and the Vista Lounge, which is used for live music and shows. Enchanted Princess offers an array of dining choices. There are three main dining rooms. In addition, there are Princess' traditional specialty restaurants the Crown Grill steakhouse and Sabatini's sophisticated Italian cuisine. Another Royal-class favorite is the complimentary individual pizza restaurant called Gigi's on this vessel. In addition, there is a large buffet restaurant as well as venues offering gelato, sushi, seafood, soft ice cream, burgers, specialty coffees, teas, pastries and sandwiches. If that is not enough choices, there is also room service. The ship has a variety of staterooms ranging from large suites with wrap-around balconies and multiple bathrooms to utilitarian inside cabins. Unlike sister ship Britannia, there are no single occupancy cabins. |
