Cruise ship Regal Princess, Piazza
The Piazza is the centerpiece of Regal Princess.  This grand atrium is not only several decks high but it is long and wide.  Its main floor can thus be used as an entertainment venue as well as for dining and drinking venues.  On the terraces surrounding the Piazza, there
are shops as well as dining venues and bars.

OVERVIEW

Regal Princess is the second ship in the class that begun with Royal Princess (3).  As such she is the sister ship to Royal Princess, Majestic Princess and P&O Cruises' Britannia.  At 142,000 gross tons, these ships are the biggest ships to sail for Princess.

The size of these ships is important because it allows the Princess Cruise experience to blossom.  This class has more space than their Princess predecessors and that space has been used primarily to increase the amount of dining and entertainment offerings.  Not only are there more choices but consistent with Princess' approach to cruising, they are quality
offerings.

Although these ships are some 23 percent larger than Princess'
super-Grand class ships, they only carry  12 percent more passengers.  As a result, there is more space per passenger.

The additional space also allows the ships to be more visually striking.  The Piazza area, for example, has been opened out and the designers have used that space to create a grand environment.

While very similar to Royal Princess, Regal Princess is not identical.  A third pool area has been added to her upper decks.  In addition, the theater has been modified to reduce congestion entering and exiting.

Passengers on Regal Princess tend to be middle and upper-middle class people who are looking for a sophisticated but somewhat relaxed cruise experience at a reasonable price.  Especially on European cruises, the ship attracts a
variety of nationalities.   Many passengers are experienced cruisers but there also are a significant number of first time cruisers.

The ship is family-friendly with a large area dedicated to the children's program.  However, there are no costumed cartoon characters and such roaming the public areas.   Thus, passengers traveling without children should not find the youth program intrusive and so the ship provides an environment that all age groups can enjoy.

Since entering service, Regal Princess has received a number of upgrades.  A midships staircase was added, which relieved elevator congestion and waiting times.  In addition, a number of upgrades were done in connection with Princess' Ocean Medallion program.  Not the least of which is an upgrade to the passenger internet connection making it similar to internet connections on land.
