NORWEGIAN GEM
PHOTO TOUR AND COMMENTARY SHOPS, CHILDREN'S FACILITIES AND OTHER PUBLIC AREAS |
Gem has a series of shops on Deck 7. In the 2015 refit, the enclosed Ports of Call boutique in the lobby was eliminated and replaced with Tides, an open space shop. The shops sell clothing, jewelry, sundries, logo and souvenir items and duty-free goods.
|
Gem's Photo Gallery (above) has been modernized so that the photos taken by the ship's photographers appear on touch screens. Those photos that have already been printed are stored in binders along the wall. The Photo Gallery also sells cameras and camera accessories.
Perspectives (right) is a photo portrait studio. Guests can have individual and family portraits taken in sessions that are more developed and personalized than the traditional cruise ship portraits taken during the evenings in the ship's public areas. |
Next to Perspectives are the Card Room (above left) and the Library (above right). The Library is equipped with a number of computer terminals, which can be used to access the internet.
The Art Gallery (right) on Deck 7 sells works of art, holds art auctions and conducts art talks. The Gallery has been expanded to take over most of the space once occupied by the Internet Cafe. Now that most guests carry some form of device, the demand for computer terminals has decreased. Gem has been equipped with WiFi. |
The Chapel (above left) can be sued for meetings as well as for renewals of vows and other ceremonies. There is also a Business Conference Center (above right), which can accommodate 60 for group and business meetings.
CHILDREN AND YOUNG PASSENGERS
Gem has an extensive program for children and young passengers. This includes organized and supervised activities divided according to age . The headquarters for this program is The Splash Academy, which includes a play area, a cinema, computers, an arts & crafts section as well as a nursery and a sleep/rest area.
