ROYAL CARIBBEAN INTERNATIONAL

WONDER OF THE SEAS

PROFILE
cruise ship Wonder of the Seas

SUMMARY

Wonder of the Seas is a very large cruise ship. Indeed, she entered service as the largest cruise ship in the world. She remains in the top ten largest cruise ships.

The fifth ship built in Royal Caribbean's Oasis class, Wonder's predecessors in this class were: Symphony of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas. Utopia of the Seas built subsequent to Wonder is also a sister. A seventh Oasis class ship has been ordered.

The Oasis class ships are not just larger versions of traditional cruise ships with more passengers. Rather, the design of the public areas allows for more dining venues, entertainment offerings and sports facilities than on traditional ships. As a result, the passengers are dispersed throughout the ship, which helps to avoid crowding.

While Wonder is similar to her predecessors, she is not identical. The Viking Crown section of the ship surrounding the funnels is a more stremlined design on Wonder. In it, the Suites Lounge looks aft whereas on the earlier versions, it looks forward over the Central Park area. There is also a latice work section that bridges over the Central Park area and a dome structure enclosing the solarium area. Wonder also differs from her younger sister Utopia in that Wonder is diesel-powered whereas Utopia is powered by Liquified Natural Gas (LNG).

This ship was ordered for delivery in 2021. However, due to the COVID pandemic, Wonder was not delivered to Royal Caribbean until 2022. She was originally intended to serve the Asian market and indeed bookings were opened for such itineraries. However, by September 2021, Royal had changed its mind and the ship made her debut in Florida.

Although passengers of all age groups can be found on Wonder, the ship is primarily aimed at young families and young couples. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Even though there are a variety of suites aboard, the overall style is good quality mass market cruising. Service is friendly and not pretentious.
