SUMMARY
|
Seven Seas Splendor is a small luxury cruise ship, which cruises a variety of itineraries.
When the ship entered service, her owner Regent Seven Seas Cruises proclaimed her “luxury perfected.” While that was a proud boast, it is not without basis. The ship is both all-suites and all-balconies. Her public areas include over an acre of Italian marble and some 500 crystal chandeliers. She has a $5 million curated art collection. With a passenger capacity of 750 and a crew of 551, there is a good passenger to crew ratio, which is conducive for good, personalized service. The fare is referred to as all-inclusive, which means that there is no additional charge for such things as dining, drinks, internet, and most shore excursions. Among the things not included are spa treatments, culinary classes and premium shore excursions. Seven Seas Splendor does not have “Wow-factor” facilities such as a seagoing roller coaster or a ropes course. That is not what she is about. The ship is not the destination. Rather, she takes to destinations in comfort and luxury. To do this, she need only the public facilities one would expect on a modern cruise ship such as a theater, a casino, a spa, bars and lounges. As above, these facilities are well-appointed. For a small-ship, Splendor has a surprising array of specialty restaurants including a steakhouse and ones specializing in Asian and French cuisines. Her Compass Rose venue is reputably one of the largest specialty restaurants at sea. Regent has a reputation for sophisticated cultured onboard programming. Passengers on Seven Seas Splendor are well-to-do, well-traveled and primarily from English-speaking countries. Most are retirement age. While children are not banned from the ship, there is no kids-club aboard or kid-attractions such as water parks. During the day, resort casual is the dress code. After 6 p.m., it is elegant casual with no ball caps, swim suits or shorts in the public areas. Seven Seas Splendor is the sister ship of Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Grandeur. |
