Inside Celebrity Eclipse
Celebrity Eclipse is a sophisticated, elegant cruise ship with a relaxed feel. Her interiors are visually stunning but in a contemporary understated style. Attention to detail both in the
design and in the service provided are watchwords. Yet, the atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious. Eclipse offers an array of options in dining, entertainment and activities. There are 10 dining venues onboard ranging from the casual buffet to quite sophisticated specialty restaurants. However, even in the casual venues and in the main dining room, the food is taken seriously. The entertainment and the onboard activities appeal to those who are intellectually and culturally-inclined but yet retain an element of fun. Passengers tend to be successful members of the "baby boom" generation" but there is a wide range of ages onboard. The ship has formal nights in which a significant number of the guests participate but most of the time the dress code is smart casual. Eclipse is a large ship (122,000 tons) and can carry more than 2,800 passengers. However, the number and variety of the public spaces is conducive to good passenger flow around the ship. There is no feeling of being overcrowded. Rather, the feeling is one of spaciousness. From a technological perspective, Eclipse is also a superior ship. She can cruise at a quite respectable 24 knots. Moreover, her hull was designed with hydrodynamics in mind so she can cut through the water rather than bounce on the waves. In addition, the hull has been coated with a non-toxic silicone to reduce drag thus increasing fuel efficiency. The half acre of lawn on her top deck is not the only green thing on the ship. She has advanced recycling facilities, is equipped with 216 solar panels and utilizes technologies that re-capture waste heat. Eclipse has four sister ships : Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Equinox, Celebrity Silhouette and Celebrity Reflection. The four are very similar. However, each has its own interior color scheme and the line-up of dining venues differs somewhat. Reflection also has one more deck than her sisters. All five ships were made in Germany by Meyer Werft. |
Rising up from the Grand Foyer through the center of the ship is an atrium and midway up the atrium is Robert Chamber's "Pearl Eclipse," which includes a live tree.
