PROFILE
Disney Wish cruise ship

SUMMARY

Disney Wish is the first ship in Disney's Wish class. Her sisters include Disney Treasure and the planned Disney Destiny,

Wish is a large resort-style ship in which the experience is inspired by the stories and characters of the Walt Disney Company. Consequently, one may well expect to meet costumed characters and have digital experiences that relate to the movies of the cruise line's parent. Wish is very much a family-oriented ship but it does also have adults-only venues and entertainment.

Although Wish is somewhat larger than its predecessors Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, it carries approximately the same number of passengers. This gives Wish a somewhat better passenger space ratio. Cabins tend to be larger than the cruise industry average.

A feature that debuted on Disney Wish is the “Magical Porthole” in inside cabins. Similar in concept to Royl Caribbean's “Virtual Balconies,” these are digital screens that show a real-time view of what is happening outside the ship.

The Wish has three main dining rooms. Guests, along with their servers, rotate among these three venues each night. Each of the three venues has a theme. One is themed around early Hollywood, which ties in with the early 20th century details in the ship's décor; another is themed around Marvel superheroes; and the third is inspired by the Disney movie “Frozen”. The latter two venues feature interactive entertainment.

In addition to the main dining rooms, Wish has extra-tariff specialty restaurants. These include an haute cuisine venue and a steakhouse. There are also complimentary quick eat venues.

Entertainment venues include a theater and two cinemas. In addition, Aquamouse is an amusement attraction in which guests go on a journey through a tunnel with video screens lining the walls and ride a waterslide that wraps around the ship. There are also pools, a spa, fitness center, shops, and other cruise ship standards – all with a Disney theme.

To give the ship a silhouette more like a traditional ocean liner, Wish has two funnels. However, one of these is a dummy, not used in powering the ship.

The ship is powered by liquified natural gas (LNG). Such a system is said to make a ship more environmentally friendly than a traditional diesel power system.

Wish has a maximum speed of 24 knots, which is slightly better than most contemporary cruise ships.

Disney Wish's construction and entry into service was delayed by the COVID pandemic. When she entered into service, Disney designated all the Make-A-Wish children the ship's godparents.
