SUMMARY
Amadea is a small ship serving the German-speaking market. During the course of a cruise, her intimate size allows the guests to get to know each other as well as the officers and the crew. But often times, the guests already know each other as the Amadea attracts a high percentage of repeat passengers.
Most guests are mature and have the time to take the long cruises, which predominate on Amadea's itinerary. Longer cruises enable the ship to reach more distant destinations. For example, during a month-long cruise she visited the United States from her home port of Bremerhaven, calling at places such as the British Isles, Greenland and Canada along the way. In addition, her small size enables her to enter ports that larger ships cannot. Amadea was the original Asuka, much-loved by Japanese cruisers for her deluxe atmosphere. When she came to Phoenix Reisen in 2006, she was refurbished but elements of the Japanese décor remain. Overall, Amadea remains an elegant but understated ship. There is no attempt to awe the guests. Rather, the atmosphere is conservative but for the most part casual. |
